The Barrow Transport Group was formed in 1995 by a small group of enthusiasts with the aim of preserving vehicles and artifacts and encouraging interest in the history of public service vehicles in South Cumbria and in Barrow Corporation Transport in particular
We have a core group of volunteers who regularly work on the maintainance and restoration of our fleet of vehicles. We have regular working parties down 'the shed' which feature tea and cakes quite strongly. We have job to suit all abilaties and new volunteers are always welcome. Contact us for further details.
Please note all working parties are currently suspended due to the covid 19 pandemic. We will announce their resumption on our Facebook site.
We are a 'social' group and have outings for members most weekends during the Spring and Summer to transport events up and down the country. We also like to help out other charitable and educational groups and have run the Park and Ride service for the local RNLI lifeboat Gala since the early 1990's.
